Wards Road

Wards Road This semi-detached house was originally council housing stock now Housing Association and our brief was to provide ground floor accommodation for a tenant with special needs to enable life at home with family carers. The requirement to provide a bedroom and en-suite bathroom on the ground floor necessitated a small extension to extend the sitting room into the garden and provide a back porch. The extension only required to be eight meters by two, a minimal intervention.

The additional need for external ramps and steps gave the opportunity to increase the visual footprint and anchor the extension to the garden.

The result we hope not only improves the practical qualities of life for the tenant but also provides a bright sitting room to sit and look out over the garden.
